1.  CONTACTING LALB

 

1.  Contact the Louisiana Auctioneers Licensing Board to view the files of auctioneers whom you're considering.

These files are matters of public record, and all you have to do is contact the LALB by phone, 225-295-8420, and request to make an appointment to examine the files of auctioneers whom you may be considering.  The young lady with whom you'll be speaking is Sandy Edmonds, and she should be delighted to facilitate your request. 

You may very well be shocked at some of the discoveries you make (e.g. extensive past disciplinary infractions, including unpaid consignors and/or dissatisfied bidders who filed complaints).  You may find it shocking the sheer volume of file folders for a single auctioneer whom you may request.  You may well decide to opt to factor some of your discoveries gleaned from your LALB visit into your decision-making process regarding the auctioneer whom you choose.

The LALB office is conveniently located right off South Sherwood Forest Boulevard immediately behind the Whitney Bank branch on the corner of South Sherwood Forest Boulevard and Newcastle Avenue.
